GRANT IN AID (SUBSIDY)
We introduce Uni-Liais Pvt. Ltd. as an organization engaged in providing consultancy / guidelines to the
industrial / export houses in respect of different benefits and incentives available to them from the Government policies.
We are pleased to inform you and make you aware of the Grant-In-Aid (Subsidy), which the Government
of India is offering to Food Processing Industries, which are desirous of either setting up a new unit or an existing unit going in for modernization/expansion. Government of India wishes to encourage Food
Processing Industries, and as an initiative towards that direction, sizable amount of money as
“SUBSIDY” is being offered. This grant-in-aid is nonrefundable. In simple words this is a financial help
/ support to the existing as well as new units in this sector.
In nutshell, if you are an existing unit or planning to set-up a new unit, you will be entitled to a subsidy
(Grant-in-aid) to the extent of 25% of your investment on plant and machinery and civil construction (up
to maximum of Rs.5 million as grant-in-aid). The amount will vary from item to item. Grant-in-aid
(Subsidy) is available for setting up/expansion / modernization of food processing industries covering all
segments viz. Bread, Biscuits, Fruits & Vegetables, Milk Products, Meat, Poultry, Fishery, Cereal Pulses,
Oil Seeds and such other agro-horticultural sectors leading to value addition and self-life enhancement
including Food Flavors and Colors, Oleoresins, Spices, Coconut, Mushroom, Hops etc.
We shall like to inform you that we take up cases pertaining to different schemes for financial assistance
available from APEDA. This assistance is available mainly under the categories of Research &
Development(Assistance for technology development & research and development for export
enhancement), Market Development(A. Packaging Development – assistance to exporters for use of
packaging material as per standards & specifications developed by APEDA; Activity for development of
packaging standards and design & Up-gradation of already developed packing standards. B. Feasibility
Studies, Surveys, Consultancy and Database Up-gradation - Assistance for conducting feasibility

sector for mechanization of harvest operation of the produce, setting up of sheds for intermediate storage
and grading / storage / cleaning operation of produce, mechanized handling facilities, pre cooling
facilities, providing facilities for pre-shipment treatment, integrated post-harvest handling system such as
pack houses / green houses, vapor heat, pollution control, effluent treatment & specialized storage
facilities), Quality Development(A. Promotion of Quality & Quality Control – assistance for setting up /
strengthening laboratories; assistance for installing quality management, quality assurance & quality
control systems; up-gradation & recognition of labs for export testing; testing of water, soil, processed
fruits & vegetables, cereals, etc. B. Capacity Building & Organization Management – assistance for upgradation
of technical & managerial skills; organizing seminars / group activities) & Transport

We advise and provide consultancy for preparation of applications for claiming subsidies under various
Cluster Development Schemes of Ministry of Textiles & Ministry of MSME, such as 1) Comprehensive

There are different financial schemes being launched by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy

The schemes are in the shape of Subsidies, Grants, low rate of interest on term loan, etc.
The schemes which are normally eligible for Subsidies and financial benefits are to units mainly

We are pleased to inform you that in order to popularize Biotechnology amongst Indian industry in the relevant
sector, Government of India, Ministry of Science & Technology, Department of Small Business Innovation Research
Initiative has come up with different schemes / programs and going to offer financial incentives to the industry.
Text of the scheme: -
- Assist small & medium business houses with less than 500 employees in Research & Development.
- Offer funding for early stage : Phase I (pre-proof of concept research)
- Provide Phase II funding towards commercialization of research lead.
- To provide support for early stage, pre-proof-of-concept research in biotechnology by industry.
- To support late stage development and commercialization of new indigenous technologies particularly those related to societal needs in the healthcare, food and nutrition, agriculture and other sectors.
- To nurture and mentor innovative and emerging technologies/entrepreneurs, to assist new enterprises to forge appropriate linkages with academia and government.
Eligibility criteria: -
- The unit should be registered in India and must fulfill the criteria of Small Business Unit.
- The company should have well established in-house R&D unit recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) or have patent rights (National or International) in the proposed activity.
- The company’s shares should be held to the extent of 51% by the Indian promoters, family and friends and the general public.
- Joint ventures and limited partnerships would be eligible for SBIRI support, provided the entity created meets the above requirements.
Area Coverage: -
FINANCIAL INCENTIVES TO BIOTECHNOLOGISTS
The scheme covers all areas in biotechnology related to health-care, agriculture, industrial processes and environmental biotechnology, bio-medical devices and instruments and others.
The SBIRI scheme operates in two phases: -
SBIRI Phase – I:The funding available is as under –
- If the actual project cost is upto Rs. 25 lakhs, 80% of the project cost will be available as a government grant.
- If the actual project cost is between Rs. 25 lakhs and Rs. 100 lakhs, 50% of the project cost will be available as Government grant subject to a minimum of Rs. 20 lakhs and maximum of Rs. 50 lakhs.
- If the project cost is beyond Rs. 100 lakhs, in addition to the Government grant of Rs. 50 lakhs, the unit will be eligible for interest free loan upto 50% of the amount (subject to a limit of Rs. 50 lakhs as loan) by which the total project cost exceeds Rs. 100 lakhs.
SBIRI Phase – II:It is proposed to provide soft loan upto Rs. 10 crores for a project as per its requirement.
All Indian companies are eligible on joint projects with public partnership i.e. Universities & Institutes.
